Monster Cave
contents
It's a Monster Marathon!
This is a hidden cave that you must enter to obtain a Triforce Chart (#6). The chart is located on level 30. To move on past that floor, you'll need the Mirror Shield, although moving on is completely optional. Levels beyond 30 are far more difficult and were made to provide a big challenge. The only recovery items are at every tenth level. Also foes do not drop items of any kind. Note** Here's a handy dandy trick I've learned: hearts, rupees, arrows, bombs, and spoils can be stolen from opponents with the Grappling Hook. At the end you will get a Heart Piece as your reward for completing the labyrinth. The Monster Cave is made more difficult after completion. After obtaining the Piece of Heart, several more enemies are added to many floors. Most significantly, there are many more Darknuts than the first time. This makes floor 49 very difficult to beat. How do I get up there, again?
This place is located on a cliff on the far west side of Outset Island and can be accessed by a Deku Leaf and the Power Bracelets (to remove the Stone Head covering the entrance). Go up the path on the east side of the island. Like you were headed to the forest area. Once at the top head to the right. You should see Old Man Ho Ho with his telescope out looking to the west. He's eyeing the large stone head on the ledge. Make sure the wind is headed west and then you can fly there with the Deku Leaf. In this labyrinth, there are 50 levels, each with enemies that get more difficult the further you descend into its depths. The toughest part of this Monster Cave is sheer size of the challenge. You can't leave it once you start. So make sure you have at least 45 minutes to an hour to devote to this challenge. It wouldn't hurt to have fairies and some of grandma's super duper (elixir) soup. See below for a list of the baddies and what level they're on (with a screen capture, of course!). |
