Chapter 3Need Shine Sprites, Star Pieces, Badge info/Locations & more? Don't fret! Click here :)
Glitzville This chapter begins with (an awkwardly long) zeppelin ride to the flying city of Glitzville. Check out the item shop if you need a Super Shroom, Power Punch or Thunder Bolt. Everything is moderately priced, but can prove to be helpful :). Head over to the obvious Shine Sprite, use your hammer to reveal a hidden block below the Shine Sprite so you can reach it. Note the large blue block with an '!' bounce on it to reveal stairs leading to the roof of the Juice Shop. You can open the chest now, in it is….. We'll come back here half way through the chapter but for right now there's nothing left for us to do so we can go into the Glitzpit (that's the large Japanese style building in the back). Once inside head through any one of the 2 read doors to see a fight happening between Rawk Hawk and an armored koopa. You'll notice on his belt has a Crystal Star, you know what to do next… Battle your way to the top! (you weren't thinking about just stealing that thing, were you? ^_^). Head around to one of the side doors and agree to become a fighter and you go into a hallway that wraps around the pit. Look for an open box with a star logo, inside it is the Last Stand Badge. You can find Grubba's office by talking to the guards and one of them will move to the side to let you in the room. Agree to be a fighter with Grubba and he'll rename you the "Great Gonzales", Miss Jolene walks in and takes you to the Locker Room where you'll schedule your fights. It's noting like the Champ's Room, but it's your new home. Oh boy! You'll reserve your matches by the GameBoy looking thingy on the wall. You must defeat each opponent and comply with the 'Conditions'. For the first fight you have to Appeal to the Crowd. Now begins the fun task of defeating all of the opponents in the Glitzpit. I'll break down the fighters and as you go along you'll start to uncover a maze of craziness that is the Glitzpit. Match VS: Rank 19, Goomba Bros.
Match VS: Rank 18, The K.P. Koopas Match VS: Rank 17, Pokey Triplets Match VS: Rank 16, Spike Storm Enemies Match VS: Rank 15, The Dead Bones It's after this fight that there is a cut scene with Shy Guy, Miss Jolene and King K. Shy Guy was snooping where he wasn't allowed and got caught. He's investigating the 'Seven Wonders of the Glitzpit' secrets. Head to the lobby and come back into the locker room (this will reset the shy guy) head back into the hallway and he will be waiting for you. Now you can ask about what he's been up to. The following is a list of his secret knowledge and I encourage you to talk to him to find out more: • The Sealed Wall • The Man-Eating Toilet • The Stairs of Mystery • The Haunted Boudoir • The Spooky Ring-Lights • The Missing Ones • Grubba & Jolene Now head back outside for another cut scene. The Hot Dog Cart guy loses an egg, literally the egg bounces off and you have to chase it until it finally comes to rest on top of the Hot Dog Cart. Go back to the stairs attached to the Juice Shop we triggered earlier. Use the Plane Pad to fly over to the Hot Dog Cart and 'talk' to the egg. Adopt it and it will begin to follow you around. Head back to the Glitzpit where it will wait for you in the Locker Room while you battle. Match VS: Rank 14, The Hand-it-Overs Match VS: Rank 13, The Mind Bogglers Match VS: Rank 12, The Punk Rocks Match VS: Rank 11, The Bom-omb Squad Enemies: Match VS: Rank 10, The Armored Harriers PLEASE NOTE* This fight is going to be a loose-loose for you because their defense is UNKNOWN. You cannot injure them at all! You've probably guessed by now your little egg is a Yoshi and his 'gulping ability' is the only thing that can work here because he simply 'gulps' one and up-chucks it into the other one injuring them. So, take my advice, and end this useless fight by dying as quickly as you can. When you go back to the Locker Room your Yoshi will have hatched. Rematch The Armored Harriers and now you can defeat them. Afterward there is another cut scene where Ms Jolene brings you in to talk with Grubba. You are now graduated up to the next level and they take you to the nicer Locker Room. However, everyone isn't friendly like King K and the other players from the lowest ranks. sigh* Now back to the matches… Match VS: Rank 9, The Tiny Spinies Match VS: Rank 8, The Poker Faces Badges you collect here: NA # of Star Pieces: 0 # of Shine Sprites: 0 Ability Learned: NA Baddie(s): Every Match VS! |

After the fight with The Poker Faces you have a cut scene where you've received an email from mystery person 'X' that says to go to the Watering Hole (which is another way of saying 'Juice Bar'). Head out to the street and go to the building on the right (by the large blue stairs that lead to the 'Plane Pad'). Talk with the 'bar tender' and he will give you the Super Hammer. Now you can destroy Huge Yellow Blocks. Before you leave be sure to get the Star Piece from behind the counter. Another email comes through telling you to smash the huge yellow block in the lowest rank locker room. Inside this (once blocked room) is a Dubious Paper. Use Yoshi to 'fly' you from the top of the desk to the top of the bookshelf. Miss Jolene catches you in the wrong locker room and abruptly walks out. At this point you can continue your fights. They are as follows:
Match VS: Rank 7, The Shellshockers *Note* immediately after this fight the Armored Harriers challenge you again. Just an FYI to keep your hit-points up and to have Yoshi out to Gulp the opponents. After the fight you get another mysterious email, except this one is threatening. Probably not from person 'X'… >.< Match VS: Rank 6, The Fuzz *Note* The Green Fuzzy can multiply (which can lead to easy Star Points) After this fight someone leaves you a cake. Eat the cake? Heck, yeah! Match VS: Rank 5, The Magikoopa Masters *Note* immediately after this fight the Bowser challenges you. Yes, Bowser! Just an FYI to keep your hit-points up Match VS: Rank 4, Craw Daddy After this fight is another cut scene/mysterious email. This time you are instructed to go to the Pavilion Telephone Booth. So back out to the street after being stopped by Rawk Hawk in the hallway. Go to the left past the item shop. Inside the telephone booth is a Stange Key. The key opens the Storage Room next to Grubba's office. Look for the room with the hugh key. Ignore Jolene ^_^ inside this storage room you'll run into Ms Mowz again and have another little cut scene with her. You have to find the Staircase Switch. Use Flurrie to blow away the grey boxes to reveal huge yellow boxes which you can now destroy. Hit the switch to reveal the stairs. Get the Shine Sprite at the top of the stairs. Switch to Yoshi to 'fly' you over to the top of the boxes on the left hand side of the screen. Use Yoshi to 'fly' you over to the HP Plus P badge on the left. Drop down the hole and go all the way to the right and you'll notice a peep hole in the ground. Eves drop onto Grubba and Jolene's conversation. The plot thickens! Time to go down the vents (turn sideways). Match VS: Rank 3, Hamma, Bamma, and Flare Match VS: Rank 2, Chomp Country *Note* Don't eat the cake!!! Doh! Match VS: Rank 1, The Koopinator Badges you collect here: HP Plus P # of Star Pieces: 1 # of Shine Sprites: 1 Ability Learned: Super Hammer Smash Baddie(s): Every Match VS! |

After this fight you get one last email 'Remove the Great Gonzales posters in the lobby'. You'll notice all of your posters, head up to the 2nd floor and 'blow' off the left poster using Flurrie and you'll find a key. Head back to the storage room, go up the stairs and use the key to open the door. Use Yoshi to make your way to the right. What could by up here? But the 'Missing Ones', your friends King K and Bandy Andy By the looks of it they both had a Game Over. Ms Jolene catches you again! Hmmm… Go back out and head to your locker room and reserve a match with you and Rawk Hawk. But what's this? Rather then take you to the ring they take you to another (even shabbier) locker room. They lock you in intending you to miss your fight. The only way out of here is to 'blow' off the Peach poster on the far right door with Flurrie. Inside is a rest room with a television. It opens into another Locker Room. Go across the room to the door on the right and it's a bathroom. Go down the toilet. Seriously, it's a pipe right? Mario goes down those all the time, right? >.< Save your game and go into the fight.
Match VS: Champion, Rawk Hawk. His big attack is sliding, it is easily blocked. Your main strategy should be to first use Mini-Egg, and then use Power Smash/Bounce/Jump repeatedly. Yoshi should be your partner, who should use Gulp or Ground Pound repeatedly. You are now finally the champion of the Glitz Pit! You get the belt (with the fake star) and he takes you to the Champion Room. Now you can figure out the 'haunted boudoir' mystery. Use Yoshi to fly you from on top of the presents, to the top of the door frame, to the top of the boudoir. Use your Super Hammer to knock the vents back and walk into the vents. Use the Super Hammer to knock out the vents leading to Grubba's office. Collect the Star Piece behind the office plant and open the right drawer to get the 2nd star piece. Find a paper in the left drawer that describes a secret machine under the Glitzpit. Grubba walks in on you and retreats back. Save your game again and heal, because now you're gonna fight the 'real' boss of this level. Grubba! BOSS: Macho Grubba
Grubba will start this battle by doubling his chances for attacking. This effect will last for three turns. Later, he'll boost his Attack/Defense/Evasion and immediately attack (he has two turns). After a tough fight Grubba collapses and reverts to his normal form. Jolene comes in and explains the recent events, including how the first champion, her brother, Prince Mush, disappeared. Next, she reveals that she is mystery person 'X'! Suddenly, the Crystal Star starts to emit power, and Prince Mush is returned. Jolene decides to let you keep the Crystal Star, as it fell out with Prince Mush. Badges you collect here: NA # of Star Pieces: 0 # of Shine Sprites: 0 Ability Learned: Power Lift Baddie(s): Grubba |

Peach's scene starts with Grodus talking to the Shadow Sirens. They haven't succeeded yet, but they seem to have a secret weapon... Back in Peach's room, the door opens, as usual. Go through the door and see what's bugging TEC this time. TEC wants you to ask Grodus about some data not uploaded into his system. So, head to the elevator. TEC will direct you to a locker room. In it, open the lockers to find a X-Naut suit and then open and close the stall to dress up in it. Leave the room and head to the throne room (to the far right side of the hallway). Once you enter, Peach (in disguise) will ask Grodus about herself. Grodus dismisses the question, mentioning you should focus on world domination, etc. Return to the changing room. Go back into the stall you used to change back into Peach's dress. Time to return to TEC. Peach asks TEC if it was built to help the X-Nauts take over the world, as well as what the Crystal Stars and the treasure of the Thousand-Year Door have to do with it. TEC refuses to answer, but allows Peach to e-mail Mario again.
Bowser arrives at the Great Tree, Kammy suggests to question some Punies about Mario and the Crystal Star. He quickly figures out the Puni Elder is just as large as he is. She and Kammy get into a bit of an argument, until the Puni Elder reveals that Mario already has the Crystal Star. Bowser resolves to find Mario, get the Crystal Stars, and kidnap Peach. |
|
You regain control of Mario as he says his good-byes to his friends/enemies. Rawk Hawk decides to fight fair, King K. decides to un-retire, and Jolene says that you will still have your spot on the roster should you ever come back. Get on the blimp and leave.
Use Paper Mode and go use the pipe you usually use. After exiting it, use Paper Mode to slide through the grate and exit left. In this room is a big yellow block. Use the Super Hammer on it. Climb up to the ledge using the lift and grab the Shine Sprite. Jump on each big ! block and use a Spin Jump. These are shortcuts to Petalburg (right) and the Great Tree (left). Exit to the right. Go back down the pipe you usually use. In this room, smash this yellow block using the Super Hammer as well. Use the springboard to jump to the ledge and exit to the left. In this room... well, you get the deal. Step on the pedestal to reveal the location of the next Crystal Star: in some woods west of Rogueport. Time to consult the professor. Back at Frankly's, he is shocked to figure out that the X-Nauts want control over the world. However, that pales in comparison to another fact he found: the "treasure" behind the Thousand-Year Door is a 1,000-year-old evil spirit, the same spirit that destroyed the original town! It seems the X-Nauts wish to use it to control the world. Finally, Frankly explains that the next Crystal Star is in Twilight Town. Head to west Rogueport and slip through the grate. Use a Flutter Jump to get to the other side. Enter the door and use the pipe. It spits you out for some reason. Time to consult Frankly once more! He is actually confused on the matter. He says you should visit Darkly. You remember the alleyway beside Merlon's? The one where you walk into the center of the wall to get through? Go there now. In the alleyway, talk to the person who isn't the Bandit. Darkly will say that you need something with you that has your name written on it. He will write Mario's name on his overalls, and your partner's somewhere else. Now, go back and use the pipe to begin the fourth chapter! |
|
This clip shows you how to upgrade your partner at Merlon's. This is a VERY good idea to do. As you collect Shine Sprites you can upgrade your partners' abilities. It takes 3 Shine Sprites per partner so make sure you collect those when ever you see them!
