5: The Great Sea IslandsMissing a Heart Piece or Treasure Map? Fret no more! :D
*All islands are in alphabetical order, for your convenience. I wanted to be thourough in my walkthrough so these islands include all of the things to do on each island. Including Submarines, Platforms, Big Octos etc... Angular Isles G5 Heart Piece: Avoid the Gyorg trying to knock you out of the boat. Talk to the Fishman first and he'll give you a hint about the Nintendo Gallery. Make your way to the larger island and climb onto it by low lying ground. Walk around the island until you see a block with a symbol on it, this one you can pull out. You'll notice the ground is indented here to slide the block on. Climb up the block and continue around the island until you come to another block with the same symbol. Push this block over the ledge and slide it into place. Now you can climb up that block onto a higher part of the island. Climb to the top of the island where there is a chest with a HEART PIECE#41 in it. Then fly or use your Hookshot to make it to the smaller island (with a palm tree on it) and fall into the cave. Silver Rupee/Secret Cave: Inside the cavern are 3 huge stone mouths. Move the blocks by sliding the ones you can reach backward. The trick here is to make a quasi staircase with these blocks. At the top there is a beam of light. Shine this light onto an invisible chest to make it visible with 200 Rupees inside. |
|
Boating Course G6
Obstacle Course: The Fishman this time gives you a hint about how to make your boat jump out of the water which will come in handy during the boating course. Climb up on the island and talk with Loot the Sailor and he'll challenge you to the boating course for 30 Rupees. This is actually an easy way to make money. This is a timed obstacle course and to make money collect as many of the Rupees as you can. Secret Cave: Then afterward change the direction of the wind to north and sail over to most northern part of the island as there is a secret cave there. Inside this cave use your boomerang to strike the switches in the mouths of the huge stone mouths (from left to right and you don't have to strike them in the same throw, you just have to hit the left first, middle second and right last). But beware of the Minblin who mob you. After you successfully striking the switches a chest will appear with the Submarine Chart inside. |
|
Bomb Island E6
Platform: Before heading to Bomb Island, head over to the nearby platform. Take out all of the wall mounted cannons and climb the ladder and take out all of the enemies. A chest will appear with a red Rupee inside. Just a little north is a submarine, so leave here and get back in the boat. Submarine: Inside the sub are rats and Bokoblin. Take out the Bokoblin and a chest will appear with an empty Bottle inside (#3). The Fishman give you a hint about the Ghost Ship and draw you a map and then it's time to get over to the island. Heart Piece: Head up to the top of the island and either pick up the boulder (if you have your power bracelets) or blow it up with a bomb. Drop down into the cave and you'll encounter a Magtail. Don't kill it, but stun it into a ball. Pick up the Magtail and place it on the switch as a weight. The door will open, head into the next room and in here you'll have to carefully walk out onto the thin land bridge to a switch before you can make it to the back area. Once pressing the switch than the fire circles that are blocking your way will disappear, on the portion in the back of the room you will have 2 Magtails to stun and throw on top of triggers. Check out the LP for details, but after the switches are turned on than you can reach the chest with the HEART PIECE#30 inside. Check out the 'fuse' part of Bomb Island, which from the air looks like the fuse of a bomb. There are some Rupees for you! Traveling Merchant Quest: See the Traveling Merchant Quest page or down below under the Windfall Island LPs for details for details about the trading game with the Goron. |
|
Cliff Plateau Islands F7
Platform: Before going to the island, head to the platform. You'll face 3 Wizzrobes and several Bokoblin. Defeat all of the enemies if you like, there is a chest on the platform already with a Boko Baba Seed inside. Sigh, all that work for a Boko Baba Seed? I am afraid so! Treasure Map: On this small Island there are a couple of things to do, but first go talk to the Fishman for a map and a hint about the Nintendo Gallery. Now, onto the island. Work your way around until you come to a secret cave. Inside you'll have floating pontoon thingys. Just use your Deku Leaf to fly from floating structure to structure. Or you can use well timed jumps. Have your boomerang out to take care of all the Boko Baba flowers. One of the Boko Baba Flowers becomes a spout that will shoot you up to a platform. Use your Fire Arrow to burn the boards blocking an exit. Then use your Deku Leaf to fly to the exit. Outside you'll see the wilted Deku Tree, but that's next, first make your way to the very top of the island where the ornate chest is that contains a Treasure Map #25. Deku Tree Seedlings/Heart Piece: See Forest Haven for details. |
|
Crescent Moon Island 5A
Treasure Map: This map is easy to get to. Just make your way up on the island and there is a chest just sitting there. Open it up for Treasure Map #10. Don't forget to talk to Fishman for Crescent Moon Island map and a hint about the Ghost Ship. Submarine/Treasure Map: Head just north of the island to find a Submarine. Inside, defeat the Minblin for a Treasure Map #9. |
|
Cyclopse Reef D3
Treasure Map: This reef has only one center pillar. Distroy all of the wall mounted cannons and ships for the Treasure Map #21 to appear. Climb onto the side of the wall that creates the perimeter of the reef and climb almost all the way around. Make sure that you are facing Greatfish Isle (west) and that the wind is blowing west. You'll have to jump from the apex of the reef facing the chest to make it. Then, if you haven't already, go see the Fishman for his hint about Light Rings. Platform: There is a platform just south of the reef. Take out all of the wall mounted cannons and the Bokoblins on the Platform for a chest with a Golden Feather to appear. Beware of the pesky Sea Hats. Oi! |
|
Eastern Fairy Island C5
Platform: Take out all of the wall mounted cannons and Bokoblins for a chest to appear with a Boko Baba Seed. Save yourself from this meaningless task and ignore this platform. Bomb Upgrade: Talk to the Fishman for his hint about the auction on Windfall Island. Once on the island, blow up or pick up the the boulder blocking your entrance to the island. Inside the Great Fairy will gift you with a Bomb Upgrade. Deku Tree Seedlings/Heart Piece: See Forest Haven for details. |
|
Eastern Triangle Island D6
Pearl Pedestals: Note* Eastern Triangle Island, Southern Triangle Island, and Northern Triangle Island: These islands really have only one purpose that can be summed up on one LP. Each island contains one pedestal and after collecting all three Pearls (Din, Farore and Nayru) head to these islands to place each pearl on it's designated pedestal. Afterward, the Tower of the god's will rise out of the ocean in the center of the triangle that these islands create. Then their purposes are finished. Treasure Map: There is one thing I like to do at Eastern Triangle Island, you'll find a boat full of explorers near this little island. You can meet up with them at various islands throughout The Great Sea, but this is where I like to meet up with them. Talk to their leader, the one standing at the end of the boat, and he will talk to you about treasure hunting. He likes you right off the bat and gives you a Treasure Map #34 and wishes you good luck. As always, make sure to get the map for all 3 Triangle Islands by talking with the Fishman at their designated islands. |
|
Five Eye Reef F2
Treasure Map: This reef has only one center pillar. Distroy all of the wall mounted cannons and ships for the Treasure Map #41 to appear. Climb onto the side of the wall that creates the perimeter of the reef. You'll have to jump from the apex of the reef facing the chest to make it. Then, if you haven't already, go see the Fishman for his hint about the Fairy Fountain on Outset Island. Platform: There is a platform just beyond the reef. Take out all of the wall mounted cannons and the Bokoblins on the Platform for a chest with a Golden Feather to appear. Beware of the pesky Gyorgs. Oi! |
|
Five Star Isles G7
Platform: Take out all of the wall mounted cannons and the Bokoblins on the Platform in this quadrant for a chest with a Golden Feather to appear. Really, these platforms are fun if you like to practice with your cannon! Submarine/Heart Piece: Close to the platform is a Submarine. In here take out the bats with your boomerang and then take out all of the Bokoblin and then a ladder will fall. At the top is a chest with a HEART PIECE#43 inside. Go speak with the Fishman for your map and he will give you a hint about the Ghost Ship. |
|
Flight Control Platform B7
Heart Piece: Just east of Dragon Roost Island is Flight Control Platform. Pay 10 Rupees to play. Make sure that the wind is blowing south west and also, make sure you have your Magic Meter Upgrade (for more information see Two Eye Reef below). Make a running leap off the end of the platform and hang to the left, roughly, which is where the whirlwinds hang around. Fly until the magic runs out and try to get past the finish line. You'll receive a HEART PIECE#19 for your win. Submarine: Just south of Flight Control Platform is a Submarine. Inside you have to defeat the Wizzrobes and Minblin. Then a chest will appear with a Platform Chart. Check out the Fishman for a map and a hint about treasure on Dragon Roost Island. |
|
Forest Haven F6
Deku Tree Seedlings/Heart Piece: This is the Deku Tree Seedling mini-quest :). The rest of Forest Haven is accomplished through designated plot points during game play of which has already occurred by this point. I'm sure you've noticed the wilted Deku Seedlings on various islands throughout the Great Sea and the Koruks asking for your help to water the trees with Forest Water. By helping them you will earn a HEART PIECE#35. To start this miniquest head over to Forest Haven and talk with the Deku Tree. Ask him about the Koruks and he will place leaf markers on your sea map for quick references about Koruk locations. Get a bottle of the water inside Forest Haven and note that you have a limited time to complete this task. Make sure the wind is blowing north as you'll spend less time changing the direction of the wind. When you get to a tree, get close enough to it so that the water hits the base. Note* you will not run out of water. 1 bottle is enough. The Koruks will give you a time update if you talk to them. Don't do this too much as it takes time 0.o Here is the route I always take: 1: sail east to Cliff Plateau Islands 2: Ballad of Gales to Forest Heaven & sail northwest to the Private Oasis 3: Ballad of Gales to Outset Island & sail northeast to Shark Island 4: Ballad of Gales to Tower of god's & sail north to Eastern Fairy Island 5: Ballad of Gales to Tingle Island & sail northwest to Mother&Child Isles 6: Sail north to Star Island 7: Ballad of Gales to Greatfish Isle 8: Change wind south & sail southwest to Needle Rock Isle The Trees will grow tall and strong with a HEART PIECE#35 coming out of their branches. Yeah! |

Once you're finished head over to the main island with a dome, you'll find a crawl space on the side close to the ground. Crawl in and you'll see a secret cave. Fall down into the cave and you'll see a cavern with hallways. I always start at the right and proceed to visit all of the hallways so that I know that I haven't missed anything. The first hallway leads to a boulder half way down. Blow it up and go inside, you'll find a treasure chest with a Joy Pendant. Head back out to the hallway and continue down. you'll come to a larger room at the end. Destroy the ChuChus and open the horned chest for a HEART PIECE#15 Head back to the center room and head for the next hallway. At the end you'll find another dead end with a chest. Open it up for a Purple Rupee (50 Rupees). Head back out to the center room and you'll notice wooden boards sticking out of the wall. Use your Grappling Hook to latch onto the lowest board and crawl up the rope. Go up the subsequent boards to get to the top where there is an opening. You'll find a ledge that opens into the center room. On the ledge is a chest with a Red Rupee (20 Rupees). Leave the Secret Cave and head back outside. Platform/Red Rupee: There is 1 Platform. |

Treasure Map/Secret Cave: Blow up all of the boulders on the island from the boat. Climb onto the island from the shallow end and jump across the gaps. There will be a Secret Cave and inside light the torch using the Boko Baba Sticks and a bunch of Keese will attack you. Kill them all for the chest with the Treasure Map#37 to appear. Empty Bottle: Purchase your Empty Bottle (#4) for 950 Rupees in Beedle's Ship. Platforms: There are 3 Platforms. To get from one to the other you will need your Deku Leaf. |
Shark Island F3
Secret Cave/Silver Rupee: Talk with the Fishman first and he'll give you a map and a hint about Cyclos. Then head over to the island. Make sure that the wind is blowing south east. I like to cut down all of the trees that might get in the way because this island is a timed obstacle course. You'll notice the Metal Switch on the 'tail' of the island, then a Crystal Switch on the 'fin', a Wooden Switch on the 'flipper' then a Square Switch on the 'neck' which you step on. So here's how I get this done in time: start at the 'tail' use your Iron Boots to trigger the Metal Switch, then un-equip those and use your Deku Leaf to fly to the 'body' part where I strike the Crystal with my sword and head straight for the 'neck' portion and step on the Square Switch, then run to the Wooden Switch on the 'fin' and use the Skull Hammer on and if you've done this quickly enough the fire around the Secret Cave will go away. Once in the cave you'll be faced with the huge stone mouths (which you will see occasionally in the game). Defeat all of the enemies for a chest with a Silver Rupee (200 Rupees) inside. |
Windfall Island B4
Auction/Treasure Map: Look for the red door on Windfall Island by the Jelly Juice Shop. Check it out at night. The trick with the auction is this. In this LP it shows that we have a meter that gauges our bidding action. To put a bid in, the meter has to be full. To fill the meter press the A button, but not so fast :) my trick is to fill it half way in the very beginning and let it naturally fill up. Zunari always gives you a 5 Second Warning. Now is your time for action! Put your (one and only) bid in at the very end. Beat your opponents by +-35 Rupees. In this LP you can see the bid begins at 5 Rupees and before I put my bid in the cost was up to 121 Rupees and I bidded 175 and time ran out while everyone was dazed. That's right, I only spent 175 Rupees, not bad considering I used to spend +-500 Rupees. You'll win a Treasure Map#38 for your bid. Auction/Heart Piece: Same as above, and this time the bidding began at 80 Rupees and before I put my bid in the cost was at 198 Rupees so I bidded at 249 Rupees and won the HEART PIECE#8 for my bid. Auction/Treasure Map: Same as above, and this time the bidding began at 60 Rupees and before I put my bid in the cost was at 175 Rupees so I bidded at 220 Rupees and won the Treasure Map#18 for my bid. |

Deluxe Pictobox/Treasure Maps: Across the way and up a little bit from Minenco are the Town Gossips. Talk with them first, then go to the Windmill. For details, please see the LP. Jump from the Windmill onto Lenzo's 2nd Floor Balcony and before crawling into the hole open the chests in the hallway for a Treasure Map #29 and a Purple Rupee (50 Rupees). Crawl through the hole and come out at the end of the Staircase. Notice Lenzo talking with Minenco. Take a pictograph of them without startling them and show the picture to the Town Gossips and they will reform themselves and give you a Treasure Map #24 for your help. Deluxe Pictobox/Heart Piece: Take a pictograph of Linda, in the Orange Dress by the school, and show the pic to Anton in the blue shorts and brown hat. Here is where the 'free' camera angles help a lot! Follow her up the planks to the back opening of the village and then back to an angled road heading to Zunari's Shop. If you manage not to scare her off she will be trying to break into Zunari's safe. Go catch her in the act and talk to her. Press it to trigger the Windmill and with the wind blowing North it will begin to rotate again. Now make it night and go onto the gondolas and aim your Fire Arrow into the rotating center. Manage to get your arrow through and you will light the kindle in the center and ignite the Light House. An invisible chest will appear with a HEART PIECE#13 inside. Make sure that the wind is blowing south west and use your Deku Leaf to get to the chest.
Heart Piece: Get back to the Light House/Windmill and talk to the man who has a yellow hat on. You may have to talk to him a couple of times, but he will give you a HEART PIECE#12 for his happiness. |

Treasure Collection
Treasure Charts & Treasure: At this point in the game you will have all of your Treasure Charts, visited all of the islands, completed all of the quests and mini-quests and collected all of your items. Except for all of your sunken Treasure, that is, which you can now dredge up from the sea floor. Missing a Treasure Chart? Fret no more! Visit this page for details. Of course, you don't have to wait until you have all of your maps to do this, I did it this way so I could make an LP of it and showcase what Treasure you will get and where all in one shot. After this, you will be ready for Gannon's Tower. Whew! |
|
——————————————————————————————————--
What's Next: 6. Gannon's Tower The next page details how to take the fight to Gannon. Starting with Hyrule, then heading to Gannon's Tower and taking out the ultimate baddie! Check it out! |
